Hat box cat

Hello

Well its the school holidays and guess what its raining! Monday was also very wet so we spent the day playing board games. It was great fun although I was not impressed at being absolutely thrashed at Star Wars monopoly by an 8 year old. Not sure what we will be doing today. I suspect it might be DVD day as I have to do yet more ironing (where does it all come from?).

Today's card uses a new stamp from Crafter's companion's Barkely range. It is called Be Fabulous and she is -

I have coloured little Purrdy with the following Spectrum Noirs -

  • hat - GB1, GB3, GB5, GB7, PL1, PL2 and PL3
  • cat - TN1, PP2, PP4 and FS1
  • hat box - BGR1, BGR2, BGR3, PL3, TB9,OR2, TB3, CT4 and DR1
  • shadows - BGR1, BGR2, BGR3 and IB1

I cut out the image using Spellbinder's Grand decorative circles and inked whilst still in the die with spun sugar distress ink. I then matted it onto the next size decorative circle. The paper is from Papermania's capsule collection spots and stripes pastels and the plain paper is also from Papermania. I added some ribbon which I found in the bottom of my ribbon box and three Papermania spots and stripes brights pleated mini fabric flowers. To finish I added some Docrafts sparkly gems.

Well that's all my crafting news for today. I can hear the kids and my ironing board calling.

Thank you for stopping by.

Simply messing about on the river

Good morning everyone

This card came about after looking for transport based images for a previous Allsorts challenge.

The papers and stamps are called Riverbank Revels and I have coloured the image using Spectrum noirs as follows -

  • boat - GT1, GT2, GT3, PP4, PP5, PP6, CT1, CT3, CT4, EB1, JG1, DR1, DR3 and GG1
  • mouse - EB1, EB2 and TN3
  • dragonfly - GT1, PP1 and PP4
  • flowers - JG1, DR1 and PL3
  • water - TB1 and TB2
  • sky - IB1
I cut out the image using Spellbinder's Floral ovals and inked whilst still in the die using tumbled glass distress ink. I then matted the image onto Spellbinder's Resplendent rectangles. I cut a border using Spellbinder's Floral motifs and accents. I added a flower from The Ribbon Girl, some clouds cut with Memory box puffy clouds die and some pearls to finish.

Magnolia challenge

Good morning

Over at the The ribbon girl blog it is time for a Magnolia challenge They would like to see projects using lace and here is my interpretation -

I have made a card blank using ivory centura pearl and ten matted and layered with papers from Floral fantasy which were free with an edition of Cardmaking and Papercraft. I felt that the vintage feel of the papers added to the lace theme. The image is Magnolia Butterfly Dreams - Tilda with butterfly and I have coloured it with the following Promarkers -

  • dress - pastel pink, coral and dusky rose
  • hair - terracotta, chestnut and walnut
  • skin - ivory, satin and blush
  • lace and socks - pastel beige and khaki
  • shadow - pastel blue and ice grey1
I cut the image out using Spellbinder's floral ovals and then trimmed off along the perforations. I then cut another one using ivory Centura pearl and matted the image onto it. The ribbon, lace and flowers are all from The Ribbon Girl. I was  overwhelmed with the choice of embellishments on the Ribbon Girl website and was advised by Mary (via e-mail) to start with one of their scrap bags and so the ribbon and lace is from that pack. This is just a fraction of what came in the pack and it was beautifully colour co-ordinated. The flowers just appealed to me so I bought them too. You can check out their amazing range at

To finish I added some tiny pearls to the die cut.

Favourite fancy fold

Good afternoon everyone.

Sorry for lateness of this blog but I am on holiday so I had a little lie in (and did a mountain of ironing). At the As you like it challenge blog the challenge is your favourite fancy fold and why. My favourite fold is quite simple really and about as fancy as I get (construction is not my strong point I'd rather be crafting!). This is the reason I love it soo much - easy and simple but effective.

As you can see it is an easel card. I cut the base of the card using Spellbinder's Labels 29 but I positioned the die over the fold of the card so it didn't cut all the way through so you have a spine. Then I scored the centre of one of the sides and folded it over to create the easel. Then I simply cut another labels 29 and glued it to the half folded side. Then I decorated it.

The papers are from a Papermania pad called Spots and stripes brights and I used labels 29 to mat and layer. The image is from Lili of the Valley and is called Computer fun (ST008). I have coloured him with my Promarkers as follows
  • hair - caramel, cocoa and burnt sienna
  • skin - putty, dusky pink and sunkissed pink
  • jumper - poppy, cardinal and crimson
  • TV and games console - ice grey 3, 4 and 5
  • shorts - powder blue, denim blue and petrol blue
  • socks and shirt - mustard, sunflower and gold
  • TV screen - black, ruby, warm grey 1 and 4 and powder blue
  • games boxes - forest green, bright green and primrose
  • cushion - french navy
  • TV glow - buttercup
  • shadow - cool grey 1 and pastel blue
I cut the image out using another labels 29 and have removed it from the die and then inked the edges with tumbled glass distress ink. I have used the sentiment as a stopper which is from Lili of the Valley's Everyday grungy sentiments (set 39).

Woodland folk

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday a friend from work left to start a new job in September and this is the card I made for her -

The images are from Woodland folk from Docrafts and I have coloured them with a mixture of Promarkers and Spectrum noirs as follows -

  •  owl - EB1, GB1, GB2, EB2, GB8 and GB9
  • hedgehog - EB1, EB2, GB8, GB9 and EB3
  • rabbit - GB1, GB2, GB4 and GB9
  • badger - BG5, BG7 and BG9
  • squirrel - TN1, TN3, TN4 and TN5
  • fox - amber, pumpkin, orange, TN1 and GB9
  • log - EB1, EB2, EB3, EB5 and EB7
  • grass and leaves - DG2 and DG4
  • flowers - PL1 and GB5
  • shadow - IB1
The papers are also from Docrafts (sorry I have lost the front cover of the paper so I am not sure of the name but it is from the same range as the stamps). I made a mask to cover the owl and the folk on the log and then shaded the grass, sky and sun using a big brush and distress inks - tumbled glass, peeled paint and scattered straw. I added some flowers and swirls from the Spellbinder's jewel flowers, leaves and flourishes die set and then coloured some pearls with my Spectrum noirs for the centres of the flowers. The sentiment was from the stamp set and I cut it out using a circle nestie and inked whilst still in the die with scattered straw distress ink. The tree has been cut using Memory box arboscello tree die.

Inside the card I added a badger which I cut from the papers.

Well that's all from me for today. My blogs maybe a hit and miss for the next few weeks as the school summer holidays start today and I will need to entertain my brood although if it rains we will be crafting and I am afraid it will be the start of the great Christmas crafting. If you too are entertaining small people I wish you well.

Lesley

PS - (not sure if there is PS in blogging but here goes) talking about Christmas head on over to the Lili of the Valley website where they have just released their new Christmas stamps. They are gorgeous and I promised myself I would use what I already had this year but hey ho here we go.

My favourite card

Good morning

Today's card is my favourite one that I have ever made and sits proudly on the shelf in my craft room and will never be sent out to anyone - sometimes you have to be a little selfish -

The papers are First Edition Birdsong, the dies are Spellbinder's Grand decorative circles and jewel flowers and flourishes and the sentiment is an Indigo blue one. To finish I added some pearl swirls. It is a very simple card but I absolutely love it and there isn't an ounce of colouring anywhere. Sometimes its the simpler things that I love.

See you tomorrow.

a take on the Italian job

Hi everyone
Sorry that there was no blog yesterday. I spent the day with family and got back late so was unable to blog.

So enough of the excuses. Over at the Allsorts challenge blog the challenge this week is transport. When I saw the challenge I thought 'Oh I haven't got anything much to do with transport' but low and behold I found 5 different stamp sets in my stash that could be used so you may get a little transport overload for the next few days.

Here's today's card -

The image is from a Kanban set I bought when I first started crafting (the Mini is so iconic) which I stamped four times and coloured with my Promarkers as follows -

  •  poppy, ruby, crimson, sand dune, azure, true blue, french navy, powder blue, ivory, ice grey 1, 2, 4 and 5

The papers are from a Forever Friends pad called Best of British. I cut out each image and mounted them onto the alternate backgrounds with foam pads. I cut out the union jack from one of the pads and stuck it in the middle of the card. The car number plates and the 21 are all from the stamp set.

Turning Japanese

Good morning everyone

The last card made from my new goodies for a while -

The image is called Tripping flower Tilda and I decided to give her the full Japanese treatment which was inspired by the background paper. At Christmas my Uncle gave me a pack of paper and asked if they wouuld be any use for my crafting and never being one to look a gift horse etc I said yes. I opened them a few weeks ago and they are beautiful. Some are very small pieces and this is one of the larger ones. So using my lovely paper this is what I created.
I coloured the image using a mixture of Promarkers and Spectrum noirs as follows -
  • dress - CR11, DR3, DR6 and DR7
  • hair - BG7, BG9, TB9 and true black
  • band - gold and mustard
  • skin - FS3, FS5, FS7 and PP4
  • parasol - EB6,GB1, GB3 andGB5
  • flowers - gold gel pen
  • shadow - IB1
I cut the image out using a rectangle nestie and inked through the die with tumbled glass distress ink. I then matted and layer it onto red and then black card. I then matted layer the backing paper onto black and then red card. I put 3 memory Box Arboscello trees behind the image cut from black and red card. I embossed a piece of Black Magic Core'dinations with  M-bossabilities embossing folder garden lattice and sanded it back to revel the red core. I then rubbed over some enchanted gold gilding wax. I cut the flower using Spellbinder's Anemone flower topper and the leaves usinf Spellbinder's folliage dies. Whilst still in the dies I inked through using versamark ink, removed the card from the die and embossed using Cosmic shimmer bright gold metallic embossing powder. To finish I added a black dazzler and 2 black hat pins.

I have bourght
  • 3 new Tilda stamps
  • Heartfelt creations Decorative butterfly corner
  • Spellbinders 5 x 7 Elegant labels 4

I hope to be able to show you some of the cards I have used them for as soon as my photographer gets back from living the life of Riley : )

Hunkydory

Hello again

Today's card has been made using a Hunkdory kit which came free with a recent edition of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

I have cut an 8 inch card blank front in half and used a border punch along the edge (I think it is a Xcut one). I have then used one sheet of Hunkydory cardstock to decorate the front and the inside of the card. I have used a ribbon to cover the outer edge of the cardstock on the front. I have then decoupaged the topper and mounted it onto a Spellbinder's Grand decorative circles one cut from silver Mirriboard. A very simple but effective card thanks really to the brilliance of Hunkydory.

Love it?

Good morning to you

I have cut the image out and mounted it onto a Spellbinder's Romantic rectangle cut from a paper from Nit wits Promises paper pad. The background  is a piece of Core-dinations which I have embossed with an Embossalicios embossing folder and sanded back to reveal the core and then matted and layered onto a darker piece of Core-dinations. I have then added a ribbon, a flower from Spellbinder's anemone flower topper, flourishes from Spellbinder's Floral flourishes and a dazzler.

Jessica

Good morning everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine yesterday and the weatherman says it's going to last - yipee!

Here's today's card -

This lovely image is Jessica from the Angelica and friends collection from Crafter's companion again (yes I have a bit of a thing for their stamps). Once again it is coloured with Spectrum Noirs and a few Promarkers (the collection of SNs is growing month by month). I have cut out the image using a Spellbinders rectangles nestie and inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink. I have then mounted the image onto the largest Spellbinders Fluer de lis rectangle.  The papers are from my stash - sorry I have filed all the packaging in that special place. I have embossed one of the layers with an Embossolicious embossing folder and added some Spellbinders bitty blossoms and a leaf from Spellbinders folliage set (another well loved set of dies). I have added a touch of sparkle to her wings and the toadstool with a little glitter. You just have to have glitter when fairies are involved - it's the law : )

A close up of the image.

PS. Please feel free to leave a comment - I would love to read them.

Something a little different

Hello

Something a little different today. It's not a card but a

box! For Christmas last year my wonderful hubby bought me a Ultimate Pro from Crafter's companion and this was one of the first things I made. If you have not got an Ultimate I would highly recommend it. I now make a lot of my own card bases and envelopes and the envelobox is a wonderful invention. No more squashed cards and embellishments.
Well enough of the sales pitch. This is how I made it.

The card base and top are made from Centura pearl white card with a touch of silver. I then embossed some pink Centura pearl using a Crafter's companion embossing folder. I cut the pieces to the correct size for the top and sides and matted the pieces onto silver Mirriboard. I then cut three flowers from pink felt using Spellbinders bitty blossoms and the leaves were cut in silver Mirriboard from the same set. I have a love/hate relationship with felt. Sometimes it cuts like a dream and looks beautiful when finished and then other times it won't come out of the die and you have to pass it through the Grand Calibur so many times that it ends up stuck in the cutting plate. This time however it worked really well. I stamped the greeting onto a tag from Spellbinders damask motifs and accents sets.

I hope you liked something a bit different today. Thank you for stopping by.

What no stamping!

Hello

Here's todays card -

This is a little different for me and doesn't involve any stamping at all. Sometimes I do like to let the dies do the talking.
The background is a piece of ivory Centura pearl which has been embossed using M-Bossibilities regal embossing folder. I have then cut one of the largest Spellbinders Floral burst tuck and fold dies from some double sided paper from my stash (think it might have been a freebie from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine) and then mounted the smallest die in the centre and added a pearl. I then cut one of the middle dies and one of the smallest dies and arranged on the embossed background and added pearls to the centre of the die cuts. The leaves and swirls are from Spellbinders Floral flourishes. The whole thing was then matted onto an ivory Centura pearl card blank.

I cut the image out using Spellbinders Floral ovals and inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink. I used two papers from Nitwits Petal fresh pad from Lili of the Valley and used an Xcut border punch along one edge of the blue paper. I matted both papers onto a card base made from Centura pearl and added a Memory Box Fairytale flower border cut from white Centura pearl. I then added my image using Pinflair for dimension. I added a Memory Box Precious stars die uit in the top left corner and added silver gems.

A close up of the image.
