Birthday cake

Hello folks

After working hard over the weekend with my college work I decided I deserved some time in my craftroom.
Here is a card I made for the Allsorts challenge. This week's challenge is cake and cupcakes which I thought I had nothing suitable for but after a search through my stamp boxes and it turns out I have several stamps which would have been suitable (who would have guessed). I have chosen to use this one from Crafter's Companion -
I have been reading some of my older blog posts and I am wondering if my blogs are too long winded so I have decided to try a shortened version today. Please let me know which you prefer.
  • stamp - yum, yum, yum (the Bebunni range from Crafter's Companion)
  • Spectrum Noir pens and pencils - BGR1, BGR2, BGR3, PP1, PP2, 031,119, EB4, EB6, EB7, PP3, PP4, PP5, IGI, blender, 030, 031, 117, 098, BP1, CT1, CT2 and OR1
  • Bonnets and bowties and Bonnets and bowties solids paper pads from LOTV.
  • Hot pink saddlestitch ribbon (from the Ribbon Girl)
  • Joanna Sheen border die
  • Spellbinder's sentiment die
  • pearls (from my stash) coloured with PP3 Spectrum Noir pen.

Seeing your face

Good morning folks

Another little card today -
I began by covering a 4 inch card blank with some green core'dinations paper and then embossed a piece of hammer card with a Sheena embossing folder. Sorry not sure of the name of this one. I think it came free with a Crafter's Companion magazine. I then attached it to the card base.
The image is Penny Black's Seeing your face which I stamped onto watercolour card and coloured with the following Spectrum Noir pencils -
  • Hedgie - 096, 099, 104, 004, 005 and 009
  • daffodil - 056, 050, 052, 012, 014 and 018
  • sky - 065
  • ground - 112
I cut the image out with s Spellbinder's nestie, inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink and matted onto a scalloped circle nestie cut from green core'dinations.
To finish I stamped and cut out a sentiment from LOTV's sentiment tags stamp set. I attached it to the card as shown.

Thank you trio

Hello folks

A scheduled post today of a set of cards I made for my son to say thank you for his birthday presents.
These are very simple cards to make which is always helpful when you have a few to make.
I used Tonics Just a note die set and some papers from my scrap box. I cut them out and layered them up with foam pads onto a 4 inch square card blank.
The sentiment is from LOTV's mixed circular sentiments which I cut out with scissors and attached to the card with foam pads.

Thank you for stopping by.

For Mum

Hello Folks and a very happy Mothering Sunday to all those Mum and Grandmas out there

Here is the card I made for my mother in law from her little angel (well big one now!!)
Apologies for the photo quality. I took these photos very early the other morning so my hubby could post the card and the sun had not quite woken up so I was dependent on my kitchen lights.
I began by covering a 6 inch square card black with papers from First Edition's Botanical notes paper pad and adding a cream lace corner (from the Ribbon Girl) and some paper swirls cut using a Die'namics die.
The image is from Penny Black's Stitches stamp set which I stamped onto watercolour card and coloured with the following Spectrum Noir pencils -

  • hair - 097, 098 and 101
  • skin - 004, 005 and 009
  • wings - 003, 065 and 066
  • grass - 047 and 058

I made a frame from another of the papers using Spellbinder's floral ovals and an oval nestie, added some tumbled glass distress ink to the image and attached the frame. I attached the topper to the card base with foam pads.

I cut and layered several Spellbinder's blooms 1 and 4 and attached them to the card as shown.
To finish I added some pearls (from the Hobby House) and stamped a sentiment from LOTV's sentiments to fit scroll stamp set.

Pricilla

Good morning folks.

A scheduled post today of a card I made at the weekend.
I have bought a lot of Saturated Canary stamps recently. I really enjoy colouring them and practicing getting the shading of the hair right.
I began by making a shaped card using ivory centura pearl and Go-Kreate's XXL square frame frilly #2. I cut a smaller frilly #2 from red core'dinations which I embossed with a Tattered Lace embosing folder called Spring. I then added this to the card base.
I cut a Spellbinder's Grand decorative circle from a heart paper from my stash, attached it to the base and then added some ivory lace from the Ribbon Girl along the bottom of the card.
As I said earlier the image is Pricilla from Saturated Canary which I coloured with the following Spectrum Noir pens and pencils -
  • Skin - FS1,TN1, TN2, TN4 and 089
  • Hair - GB1, Gb7, Gb9 and 087
  • Eyes - tB3
  • Lips - TN4
  • Clothes - CR8, Cr9, CR11, TB1, CR4, CR5, CR6, EB1, EB2, 028 and 093
  • Ground - BG1 and BG3
  • Sky -TB1
I cut the image out with a Spellbinder's labels 11, inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink and matted it onto a Spellbinder's decorative labels 8. I attached the topper to the card base with foam pads.
I cut a Memory Box Heart Flourish and added it to the top of the card, and then cut a LaLa Land heart banner, shadowed it with red core'dinations and attached it to the bottom of the card.
I added some red flowers and a heart charm (from the Ribbon Girl) to the side of the image.
I stamped a sentiment from LOTV's sentiments to fit scrolls, cut the sentiment out with a Die'namics mini tabs die and added it to the opposite side of the image.

Spring flowers

Hello folks and a very happy Sunday to you all

Yesterday the spring sunshine encouraged a few of the daffodils in my garden to flower. I love daffodils and the promise of the summer that (hopefully) is to come. I purchased this Penny Black stamp this week and had a play with my Spectrum Aquas.
I began by matting and layering Tonic's Just a note die set cut from white hammered card and some green core'dinations. I used foam pads between each layer to add dimension.
The image is Penny Black's Daffodil dance. I coloured directly onto the stamp with my Spectrum Aquas and then stamped it onto watercolour card. I added some extra depth with the fine point of the markers and then softened the colour with a paintbrush and some water.
I used the floral set of Spectrum Aquas and the colours I used were bud green, leaf green, meadow, sunflower and marigold. I also used a Tumbled glass distress marker for the outer edges.
I cut the image out with a Tonic layering square and matted it onto a square from the Just a note set.
To finish I added a bow (ribbon from my stash) and a button (from the Ribbon Girl).

Gothica

Hello folks

Happy Wednesday evening to you all

Here is today's card -
I began by matting and layering a 6 inch card blank with papers from First Edition's Bird song paper pad. I created a border with two of the papers and a Tonic Dotty Lace border punch and attached to the card as shown.
The image is Saturated Canary's Gothica which sounds very dark but I thought I'd try colouring her with pale pinks and was very pleased with the result. I coloured her with the following Spectrum Noir pens and pencils -

  • hair - GB7, GB10, GB11 and 087
  • skin - FS1, TN1, TN2, CR1 and 089
  • eyes - JG4
  • lips - CR1
  • dress - PP1, PP2, PP4 and 041
I created a frame using one of the papers from the pad and Spellbinder's Floral ovals and an oval nestie and attached it to the image. I then attached the topper to the card with foam pads.

I cut several Doohickey daises from scraps of the papers, layered them and put brads in the centre of each flower. I then cut several Tonic Royal ferns, attached them as shown and then added the flowers.
To finish I added two sentiment tags from LOTV's sentiment tags stamp set.

A sad demise

Good morning folks
Last Monday morning, yes I do try and craft before I go to work, my Grand Calibur sadly died. After many years of loyal service it could no longer carry on. It had been struggling for a while, clunking whenever I turned the handle, the handle kept falling off and there was a strange rattling sound from inside whenever I moved it around. Well what could I do? I tried resurrecting my Cuttlebug but he was just to small and couldn't cope with my larger dies.
So I decided to ...............
buy a new one. With some help from Christine at Hope and Chances I bought a new teal Grand Calibur.
So now I get to go from this -
To this -
Now I can get back to crafting. A big thank you to Christine for such fantastic service. If you want to purchase a new GC visit Christine, her knowledge of Spellbinders as a company and their products is fantastic.
