Watch the birdie

Good morning folks

Well it is Saturday again, not really sure where the last week went. Can't believe a whole week has passed without me posting on my blog - I really am neglecting my poor little blog at the moment. I have been busy crafting and working at my day job; time has been against me unfortunately.
As it is Saturday there is a new challenge at Fantasy Stampers. This fortnight the challenge is
Watch the birdie
We would love to see you projects featuring our feathered friends but please remember we are a stamping challenge (no digis) and the stamp must be the main focus of the project.
This is my card for the challenge -
Sorry about the photo quality, I took the photo at night (aren't the nights closing in quickly?) and the light quality wasn't great.
I have had this stamp for a while and not had an opportunity to use it. It is Stamping Bella's Marching chick which I coloured with my new Spectrum Noir colour blend pencils -

  • chick - mustard, lemon, lunar yellow and pumpkin
  • flower - blackberry, velvet, carmine, flame red and antique rose
  • hearts - carmine, flame red and antique red
  • leaves - holly, fern green and pear green
  • ground - maize and maple
  • sky - denim blue
I also used -
  • Sara Davies signature collection Love and romance paper pad
  • purple core'dinations
  • Die-sire create-a-card Nicole die set
  • Die'sire essentials ovals die set
  • Sara Davies signature collection Love and romance I love you die set
  • seedless preserves distress ink
  • Happy Anniversary sentiment stamp from Woodware

Ride with me

Good morning everyone

Friday at last..... I am planning an exciting road trip tomorrow..... Can't wait. I'll share where I have been and what I have been doing soon.

Today's card is another Anniversary card, this time for my parents. Many, many years ago my dad had a Vesper and my parents did some of their courting and spent some of their eary married life on the Vesper so when I saw this stamp I knew exactly what I could use it for.
The stamp is called Ride with me and is from LOTV. I stamped onto Neenah crest card and coloured with Spectrum Noir pens and pencils plus a little Sparkle pen-

  • skin - FS2, FS4, TN2, CR1 and 089
  • boy's hair - IG7, IG10, true black and 120
  • girl's hair - GB8, GB10, EB5 and 104
  • boy's clothes - GB7, GB8, GB10, IG2, IG3, IG4, IG5, EB5, 104 and 116
  • girl's clothes - BP2, PP6, DR6, IG6, IG7, IG8, 119 and 030
  • scooter - GT2, GT3, IG1, IG3, IG4, blender, IG7, IG9, IG10, 120, 052, 116 and crystal clear sparkle pen
  • ground - BG1, BG3 and 109
  • sky - IB1

I have also used -

  • pick n mix paper pad from First Edition
  • Woodware Happy Anniversary stamp
  • Die-namics stitched circle STAX
  • Die-namics cross stitched rectangle STAX
  • ribbon from my stash

The ribbon has come out a different shade for some reason but it did match the card (honest!!)

Regency Christmas

Good morning folks

Today I thought I would share a Christmas card, perfect for when we are in the middle of a mini heatwave!!
I actually coloured this stamp whilst I was on holiday this summer (my hubby thinks I am mad). I wanted a colouring book but didn't like the feel of the paper inside the ones I looked at so I stamped a pile of images and took those instead.
This stamp is Regency Christmas from LOTV which I stamped onto Sheena's stamping card and coloured with Spectrum Aqua blend pencils -

  • hair - umber and black umber
  • skin - honeycomb and apricot
  • dress - claret and oregano
  • basket - bison, pesto, cypress, deep forest and claret
  • border - pesto and claret
  • sky - sky blue
I do love these pencils. They are so easy to use, the depth of colour is amazing and the colour moves so easily with water. You can create beautiful shading just using the one pencil. Fabulous.

For my card I also used -

  • A Christmas story paper pad from First Edition
  • LOTV Christmas handwritten sentiments
  • gold mirriboard
  • gold ribbon from Hobbycraft
  • glitter
  • antique linen distress ink

Sentiment from LOTV.

I am hoping to enjoy the sunshine today after a quick trip to the recycling centre. I am trying to clear out our shed but my hubby is rather reluctant to get rid of all the junk which he describes as useful. I am treading carefully, the last thing I want is him looking too deeply into my craft space!!

Enjoy your day

Happy Anniverary

Good afternoon folks

How are you enjoying this gorgeous weather? We had very warm temperatures here but the most amazing thunderstorms with monsoon like rain yeaterday but today is glorious. Talk about unseasonal weather.
September seems to be a very busy month for anniversaries for me so I have been busy trying to come up with lots of different ideas for these cards. A while ago I treated myself to some new Spellbinder's dies and this card was inspired by the packaging of my new dies -
For my card I used -
  • paper flowers paper pad from First Edition
  • pink and black core'dinations
  • old gold centura pearl
  • butterfly kisses M-Bossabilities from Spellbinders
  • Spellbinder's lavish vine
  • Spellbinder's lables 55 decorative elements
  • Woodware Happy Anniversary stamp
  • black ribbon and gem from my stash

I ran the core'dinations through my Gemini and then sanded the paper back lightly to reveal the core.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenge -

Enjoy the rest of your day whatever the weather and thank you for stopping by today.

Scrummy birthday

Good morning folks

Another male card for you today. Not one of my favourite cards to make but you can always rely on Hunkydory. I found this kit at Inspirations in Preston and it was perfect for another friend's birthday card.
I have used -

  • Hunkydory's Have a scrummy day kit from the Sports and games for men range
  • gold mirriboard

The decoupage had so many layers that I decided to split them up and make an additional topper. (Cuts down on postage costs and makes the kit more cost effective.) The foiled card which came with the kit provided the base and I made this card too -
So two cards for the price of one. Excellent.
Thank you for stopping by today.

Tool shed birthday

Good afternoon folks

Apologies for my lack of blogging recently. I have been hard at work in my craft room and have not had time to update my blog. On the plus side I now have plenty to blog about.

Today's card is one I made for a friend's birthday who loves his DIY.
Many of you will know that I struggle with mens' cards so once again I searched Pinterest for inspiration. I based my card on one by Pauline Bird and you can visit her blog here.
For my card I have used -
  • printed card, embossed and foiled kraft card and blue Adorable Scorable - all from Hunkydory
  • gold mirriboard
  • blue satin ribbon
  • Sara's signature collection - Just for men tools die set
  • Sara's signature collection - Just for Men Happy Birthday die set

Another forgotten card

Hello folks

September 1st! Wow the year is disappearing fast. September is one of my favourite months. It is the start of the new school year and all the promises that brings, as well as being harvest time and the start  of nature's fabulous final fling before winter.

Today's card uses some of those autumnal colours and was made a while ago for the Spectrum Noir TV design team.
This card features Sheena's All a flutter stamp and die sets which I have coloured with Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens -

  • spun gold, smoked quartz, harvest moon and crystal clear

I have also used -

  • matt black card, Sheena stamping card, old gold centura pearl and orange core'dinations
  • Downton Abbey opulent corners die set
  • Pebeo renaissance gold gilding wax
  • Sheena's tumbling leaves embossing folder
  • tea dye distress ink

I cut the Opulent corners from matt black card and then rubbed Pebeo renaissance gilding wax over them.
To create the background I used Sheena's stamping card and spun gold, smoked quartz and harvest moon Spectrum Sparkle pens. I scribbled the Sparkle pens onto a glass mat, spritzed with water and then placed the card on top of the colour. Once the card was dry I ran it through Sheena's tumbling leaves embossing folder and then added a little tea dye distress ink.
