Ribbons and lace

Good afternoon everyone

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday. I am still trying to get back in the swing of being back at work and the children being back at school. The new job went well and I am looking forward to the rest of the term. Posting may be a little bit hit and miss from now on but I'll try and post as regularly as I can.

The new challenge for September at Lili of the Valley is "ribbon and lace" and here is the card I have made - 

The image is from Lili of the Valley and is called Dainty dancer (ST286) and has been coloured with the following Promarkers - 

• skin - almond, putty, dusky pink and sunkissed pink
• ballet dress and shoes - pastel blue, arctic blue, sky blue, ice grey 1 and ice grey 2
• tights - vanilla and pastel yellow
• stars - gold
• hair - burnt umber, walnut and cocoa
• sky - powder blue
• shadow - ice grey 1

The image has been cut out using Spellbinder's oval nestie, inked whilst still in the die with tumbles glass distress ink and matted onto a larger oval nestie. I then pleated lace around the oval. It was a bit fiddly but I like the finished effect. The papers I have used are also from Lili of the Valley and are called Petal fresh. I added some ribbon from my stash and made a bow which I added to the side of the image. I also added a little wooden heart button underneath the bow. I then inked some cream flowers with tumbled glass distress ink and added them to the card as shown. All the flowers, lace and button are from The Ribbon Girl.

A kind of magic

Good morning everyone.

Sorry not really sure why this is showing up as Thursday - it was posted on Friday!!

The September challenge at the Ribbon Girl is "include a number" so here is my card -

The image is called Abracadabra (ST173) from Lili of the Valley and has been coloured with the following Promarkers

• cloak and hat - gold, black, cool grey 5 and cool grey 4
• wand and hair - henna
• skin - almond, putty, dusky pink and pastel pink
• spell book - crimson, burgundy, ivory and blush
• shirt - cyan, aegean, yellow and sunflower
• shorts - indigo blue and midnight blue
• teddy - caramel and burnt sienna
• shadows - ice grey 1
• sky - pastel blue

I have cut the image out using Spellbinder's label 23 and inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink. The backing paper is from Docrafts capsule collection bight spots and stripes. I attached the image to the card base using foam pads. I then added a spider's web and some spiders cut from black card using Memory Box dies and a pumpkin lantern cut from orange card using an  io die. The little ghost is a free die cut which I received from Tracy at Dies to die for. I then cut three stars from yellow card using an Xcut die and stamped a number 9 in the centre of the largest die cut. I arranged all the die cuts onto the card as shown.

Igloo for two

Yet another Christmas post!!!!!!

Again I am reusing older stamps. One of the things I love about stamping is their versatility. The image is called Igloo for two (ST104) and is from Lili of the Valley. This time I have paired the image with red papers from Docraft's Winter wonderland paper pad. The image has been coloured with the following Promarkers -

• penguins - ice grey 3, ice grey 4, ice grey 5, black, gold and sunflower
• igloo and snow - icicle
• presents - yellow, berry red and sunflower
• sledge -burnt sienna and henna

The image has been cut out using a Spellbinder's oval nestie and has been inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink. I matted the image onto a slightly bigger nestie cut from gold mirriboard. To create the border I used an EK Success border punch and a piece of paper from the winter wonderland pad. I then added a red velvet ribbon from The Ribbon Girl. To finish I added a sentiment from Lili of the Valley's Christmas handwritten phrases which I embossed using gold embossing powder.

Green snowy hugs

Good morning

Another version of Snowy hugs Tilda for you today -

It has been coloured with the following promarkers -

• skin - almond, putty, dusky pink and coral
• hair - spice, burnt orange and terracotta
• coat, hat and snowman's hat - green, lush green and pine green
• trousers - crimson, burgundy and shale
• boots - ice grey 3 and ice grey 5
• snowman - icicle, pumpkin, orange, cool grey4 and cool grey5
• broom - cocoa, henna, mustard and gold.

I added some Stickles to the hats, brrom and snow.The image has been cut out using Spellbinder's Elegant labels 4 and inked whilst still in the die with antique linen distress ink. I cut a square of paper from a Docrafts Winter wonderland paper pad and added some lace and ribbon from The Ribbon Girl. Then I cut a rectangle from the same paper pad using Spellbinder's matting basics A and then matted the elegant label 4 onto it. I then added my image to the card with some Pinflair. To finish I added some small silver gems a Spellbinder's snowflake and a ribbon bow.

As you can see simply by using different colours to colour the image you can create very different looking cards. One of the joys of stamping!

Our special day

Good morning everyone

Why is it that there are certain months of the year that there seem to be loads of birthdays and anniversaries? My busy months seem to be June, August and September. September is especially busy in our house for anniveraries so prepare yourselves for an overload of anniversary cards this month. They start with my own. Today my husband and I have been married 19 years and here is the card I made for him -

There are lots of photos with this one as I wasn't sure how to explain what I did so I've decided to show you instead.
Firstly I scored and folded a piece of ivory centura pearl and cut using a Xcut heart die.

  

Then I cut one of the hearts into a rectangle.

Then I scored and folded the centre of the rectangle.

Next I cut another heart from ivory centura pearl. Then I glued it onto the rectangle.

Then I cut two smaller hearts from teal centura pearl and two hearts using Spellbinder's vines of passion and ivory centura pearl.

Then I assembled the card as below 

To finish I stamped a sentiment using a Clarity stamp and some copper embossing powder. I then cut the sentiment out using Spellbinder's ironworks motifs and accents die set. I matted the sentiment onto the base of the card with foam pads to act as a stopper.

The sentiment is the star

Good morning everyone.

Happy Monday. Yes its off to my new school today. Very nervous but also excited too. No children in today - they will be back tomorrow and then the fun really will begin!

The Allsorts challenge this week is to use a sentiment as the focal point of the card and here is my entry - 

The sentiment I have used is a Clarity Stamp and I have stamped it onto white elegant satin card using Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. I then cut the sentiment out using Spellbinder's Resplendent rectangles and inked whilst still in the die with tumbles glass distress ink. I then matted it onto the largest die in the set cut from teal centura pearl. The papers I have used are from the First Edition New Bloom paper pad. I matted the sentiment onto a paper from the pad and then layered that onto another piece of teal centura pearl. I fussy cut some flowers using papers from the pad and Spellbinder's anemone flower topper and added some pearls to the centre of the flowers. I then arranged the flowers onto the card as shown.

Tis the season

Good morning.

Happy Sunday to you. Today I will be madly running around the house trying to prepare everything and everyone for next week although my children are not back in school until Wednesday. Despite all my efforts you can bet there will still be the usual "Mum where's my........?" on Wednesday morning but I can but try.

Today's card uses one of my new Lili of the Valley stamps and is called Sledging Buddies - 

I decided to keep it clean and simple and let the image do all the work so I simply stamped the image and matt and layered it onto silver mirriboard and then on to some paper from my Christmas stash. The image has been coloured with the following Promarkers - 

• snow - icicle
• penguin - ice grey 4, ice grey 5, gold and amethyst
• polar bear - ice grey 1 and baby pink
• sledge - walnut and henna
• trees - pine

 I added a sentiment from Lili of the Valley's Christmas handwritten phrases and some snowflakes cut using white centura pearl and a Spellbinder's die. to finish I added some silver gems to the snowflakes. As I said very quick and simple.
