The best dad

Good morning folks

The challenge at Penny Black Saturday challenge is 'Boys, boys, boys' because of it being Father's day this month. Here is the card I have made for my dad (he doesn't read my blog so I won't be spoiling the surprise) -
I began by embossing a piece of green core'dinations with an Embossalicious clouds embossing folder which I sanded back to reveal the core. I then covered a 8 inch card blank with the embossed card. I matted a piece of paper from Forever friends - Just for him paper pad onto a piece of red card and then created a border from a piece of embossed green core'dinations. I attached this to the card base.
The sentiment is from a Docraft's Father's day sentiment set which came free with May's Creativity magazine. I coloured the DAD with a lipstick red Promarker then cut the sentiment out with a Spellbinder's ovel nestie. I inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink and cut the oval in half. I then tucked the sentiment under the patterned paper.
The image is Gardner from Penny Black which I coloured with the following Promarkers -
  • skin - satin, blush and dusky pink
  • hair - cool grey 3 and cool grey 4
  • pots and trays - raw sienna, terracota, chestnut, morning mist, grey squirrel, tawny owl, holly and pine
  • jeans - denim blue, polar blue, twilight sky and blender pen
  • shirt and hankie - lipstick red, red and poppy
  • apron - tan, caramel and cinnamon
  • soil - warm grey 3 and warm grey 4
  • sky - pastel blue
I cut the image out using Spellbinder's matting basics A, inked whilst still in the die with tumbled glass distress ink and then matted it onto a piece of red card. I attached the image to the card with foam pads.
To finish I cut some plant pots from red card using a Memory Box die and attached them to the border either side of the image.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenge -
