Dancing Queen

Hello everyone and a very happy New Year to you all. Let's hope 2014 is a good one. I hope your celebrations were enjoyable - mine were. Time spent with good friends, excellent food and lots of drink is time well spent in my book although I did pay the price yesterday, hence no post!!

Well it's back to normal now. I have a couple of days more off work and some birthdays and anniversaries that need cards making. Here is the first one -

I started with a 8inch square card base and matted and layered it with papers from LOTV's Beach Bliss paper pad. I used the layout from the current edition of Cardmaking and papercraft magazine (issue 126) although I have altered it slightly. The image is LOTV's dancing queen (ST471) and reminds me so much of my friend Lisa whose birthday this card is for. It has been coloured with the following Promarkers -

  • skin - satin, blush and dusky pink
  • hair - terracotta, chestnut and burnt umber
  • dress, shoes, bows and parcel - duck egg, cool aqua, turquoise and marine
  • radio - sandstone, tan and caramel
  • music - black
  • shadow - cool grey 1
  • sky - pastel blue
  • stars - buttercup
I cut the image out using Spellbinder's labels 22 and inked whilst still in the die with antique linen distress ink. I then matted it onto decorative labels 22 cut from the Beach Bliss paper pad. I then cut the largest labels 22 from another paper and matted the image onto it so a hint of brown shows through the turquoise. I cut 4 rectangles using Spellbinder's matting basics A and arranged them on the card as shown. I then added some lace (from the Ribbon Girl) and then attached my image using foam pads.

The sentiment is from LOTV's set 62 Quotables - friendship which I cut out using Spellbinder's labels 18 and inked whilst still in the die with antique linen distress ink. I matted it onto a larger labels 18.

To finish I added some flowers and pearls from the Ribbon Girl.

I added some stamped swirls to the inside of the card using Clarity Stamp's leafy swirl and antique linen distress ink.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenge -

Thank you for stopping by.
